It's surprising, given that we have really amazing wine here, and amazing art, too, that it's taken so long for paint-and-sip-type events to make it to the Napa Valley.
What's a paint-and-sip event? You come with your friends, you get a canvas, paints, brushes, and step-by-step instruction to create a painting, from beginning to end. All the while you're sipping wine. So it's a pretty happy time!
There have been a few now in both Sonoma and Napa counties, but it's still pretty new here.
The difference here, of course, is partly the quality of the wine (we're so lucky!)....
And in the one I'll be teaching this Sunday at Cosentino Winery in Yountville (they are especially known for their Merlot and Meritage wines), the art will be a few steps up in quality, too. (If I do say so myself!)

Cosentino Winery in Yountville. Beautiful building, isn't it? We'll be painting in the vineyard in the back. |

We'll be working in the vineyard, painting a vineyard landscape (the view of vines, trees, and the barn of Cosentino's neighbor, that you can see from where we'll be working.) And throughout, Cosentino's hosts will be serving their marvelous wine, and appetizers from Dean and DeLucca.
It will be a treat of an afternoon — this Sunday — Mother's Day — from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Cosentino's. You can find the winery at 7415 St. Helena Highway, in Yountville, California (right next to Mustards Grill). As of today, there is just room for five more participants.

Cosentino's vineyard view, looking upvalley and up to the neighbor's barn. We'll be painting nearby. |
I'm working on the painting right now... but here's my photograph of the view we'll be painting.
